About the templates
You can use these templates as a starting point for laying out your album pages. Each template comes in a folder containing a 300ppi full size template. Most also have some smaller versions of the template showing possible variations in the layout. Each picture placeholder on the full size template has its dimensions marked. The A4 pages are in portrait mode but can be used in landscape by turning 90 degrees clockwise.
The templates with an * next their number have an in-use example. They'll popup when you roll over the template image.
To download a template, click on its image and follow the prompts.
Using the templates
Photoshop and Photoshop Elements:
- Open the flat jpg in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and IMMEDIATELY make a duplicate and rename it to fit the pictures being dusted off
- Open up the images you want to use
- Then for each placeholder in the base template, set the cropping tool to the required size making sure you have the ppi set as well, usually 300. Crop the image and either drag or copy it over to where it belongs using the base template as a guide.
- When all placeholders are covered, hide the template layer and review the page, moving things around if necessary
- Add some text to tell the story
- Add some decoration, maybe add a background, a line of decorative dots or some other graphic elements
- When happy, delete the template layer and
- Save
PowerPoint:
- Open PowerPoint and use File/Page Setup to set the page size to match the album I am using
- Add the template to the page
- If you have software to crop the images to an exact size, use that to crop the images before using Insert/Picture to bring them onto the page
- If you don't have any other software, use PowerPoint's tools to resize the image to fit. (See the Creating Album Pages with PowerPoint tutorials for more information)
- When images are in place, delete the template and add decorating and story telling.
